Learning is a process of living that enables us to move forward in life. Learning is much deeper than just recalling and memorizing. Learning done on a daily basis involves understanding, relating opinions and making connective links between the information learnt previously with the new information learnt recently. There are various forms in which learning can be practiced. The aim of this research is to study about the memory and learning ability of Early and Late adolescents with regards to the objectives set to be; to differentiate the learning ability of Early and Late adolescents as well as to adhere to the early psychological research that was done on the memory power of different stages of Adolescents.  The hypothesis of this study is that there will be a significant difference in learning between Early adolescents and the Late adolescents. 60 samples were taken, 30 in each group. The methodology used in this study are ‘serial leaning and serial positioning’ which were used to demonstrate how individuals of different ages can recall information associated with time delay of 10 minutes between serial learning (orderly manner) and serial positioning (disorderly manner).  The groups were Early Adolescents and Late adolescents from an educational institute located around the college campus. Adolescents with physical disabilities were not included in the study and all the adolescents in this study are from an English medium institution. For the results, Standard deviation and t-test were used to score. The study was proven that Late adolescents have higher memory recall ability compared to that of the early adolescents.

Purpose The aims of this study were to characterize hearing symptoms, habits, and sound pressure levels (SPLs) of personal audio system (PAS) used by young adults; estimate the risk of developing hearing loss and assess whether instructions given to users led to behavioral changes; and propose recommendations for PAS users. Method A cross-sectional study was performed in 50 subjects with normal hearing. Procedures included questionnaire and measurement of PAS SPLs (real ear and manikin) through the users' own headphones and devices while they listened to four songs. After 1 year, 30 subjects answered questions about their usage habits. For the statistical analysis, one-way analysis of variance, Tukey's post hoc test, Lin and Spearman coefficients, the chi-square test, and logistic regression were used. Results Most subjects listened to music every day, usually in noisy environments. Sixty percent of the subjects reported hearing symptoms after using a PAS. Substantial variability in the equivalent music listening level (Leq) was noted ( M = 84.7 dBA; min = 65.1 dBA, max = 97.5 dBA). A significant difference was found only in the 4-kHz band when comparing the real-ear and manikin techniques. Based on the Leq, 38% of the individuals exceeded the maximum daily time allowance. Comparison of the subjects according to the maximum allowed daily exposure time revealed a higher number of hearing complaints from people with greater exposure. After 1 year, 43% of the subjects reduced their usage time, and 70% reduced the volume. A volume not exceeding 80% was recommended, and at this volume, the maximum usage time should be 160 min. Conclusions The habit of listening to music at high intensities on a daily basis seems to cause hearing symptoms, even in individuals with normal hearing. The real-ear and manikin techniques produced similar results. Providing instructions on this topic combined with measuring PAS SPLs may be an appropriate strategy for raising the awareness of people who are at risk. In recent years a considerable body of psychological research has explored the relationship between membership of socio-cultural groups and personal pain perception. Rather less systematic attention has, however, been accorded to how such group membership(s) might influence individual attitudes towards the pain of others. In this paper, immersion in the culture of competitive sport, widely regarded as being exaggeratedly tolerant of risky behaviours around pain, is taken as a case-in-point with students of Physical Education (PE) in tertiary education as the key focus. PE students are highly-immersed in competitive sporting culture both academically and (typically) practically, and also represent a key nexus of cross-generational transmission regarding the norms of sport itself. Their attitudes towards the pain that others should reasonably tolerate during a range of activities, sporting and otherwise, were evaluated through a direct comparison with those of peers much less immersed in competitive sporting culture. In total, N=301 (144 PE, 157 non-PE) undergraduate students in the UK responded to a vignette-based survey. Therein, all participants were required to rate the pain (on a standard 0-10 scale) at which a standardised “other” should desist engagement with a set of five defined sporting and non-sporting tasks, each with weak and strong task severities. Results indicated that PE students were significantly more likely to expect others to persevere through higher levels of pain than their non-PE peers, but only during the sport-related tasks – an effect further magnified when task severity was high. In other tasks, there was no significant difference between groups, or valence of the effect was actually reversed. It is argued that the findings underscore some extant knowledge about the relationship between acculturated attitudes to pain, while also having practical implications for understanding sport-based pedagogy, and its potentially problematic role in the ongoing reproduction of a “culture of risk.”

Attention involves three functionally and neuroanatomically distinct neural networks: alerting, orienting, and executive control. This study aimed to assess the attentional networks and vigilance in adolescents aged between 10 and 19 years using the attentional network test for interaction and vigilance (ANTI-V). One hundred and eighty-two adolescents divided into three groups (early adolescents, middle adolescents, late adolescents) participated in the study. The results indicate that after age 15, adolescents adopt a more conservative response strategy and increase the monitoring of self-errors. All the attentional networks seem to continue to develop during the age range considered in this study (10–19 y). Performance improved from early adolescence to middle adolescence and began to stabilize in late adolescence. Moreover, a low level of vigilance seems to harm alerting and orienting abilities.

<p>This study investigated whether learning strategies had made any impact on learners’ achievement and explored whether learning motivation was correlated with learning strategies. The participants of this study were the students from the EFL (English as a Foreign Language) intermediate level course at a college in Taiwan. The students were given a pretest and a posttest. The mean scores of these tests were compared with a SILL survey (Strategies Inventory for Language Learning) at the end of the investigation. The participants’ course performance was compared with their use of learning strategies. The assumption of the relationship between learning strategies and motivation is that motivated learners have a greater desire to seek out solutions or support from others and employ more strategies to process the new information. The results of this investigation revealed that only the memory strategies had a significant difference in the posttest of Group A on the independent sample t-test analysis.</p>

Microorganisms that have been identified in dental unit waterlines (DUWLs) are of concern because they can cause infections, especially in immunocompromised patients. This study aimed to assess the incidence of microbial contamination in DUWLs before and after intervention to reduce contamination, and to investigate the presence of coliforms, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Water samples were collected aseptically from the waterlines. The high-speed hand-piece and dental chair units were served by one distillation apparatus, which was fed by the potable tap water of four dental clinics. Different interventions were used: chlorination, flushing before clinics and between patients, draining at the end of the day, and freshly distilled water on a daily basis. There was a significant difference between the level of contamination in the high-speed hand-piece (1.5–2.7 log CFU/ml) and dental chair unit water (2.0–3.5 log CFU/ml). Coliforms (0.9%) E. coli (0.9%) and Pseudomonas (1.8%) were detected during 2008. This study indicates the need to monitor water quality regularly and prevent stagnation in DUWLs to reduce the number of viable bacteria to &lt;100 CFU/ml. We recommend flushing the DUWL for 2 min before the first patient and for 10–20 s between patients, flushing the dental unit at the end of the day and draining it overnight to reduce the development of biofilms, and chlorination of the DUWLs.

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the dietary patterns and sedentary behaviors among university students in Bahrain. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out with students of the College of Health Sciences in Bahrain using a self-reported questionnaire. All the students enrolled in this college were included in this study (642 students; 90 males and 552 females). The mean age of the sample was 20.1±2.0 years. A pre-tested questionnaire was used to collect information on the students’ breakfast intake, snacking, food frequency intake, and sedentary habits. Results: More than 50% of the students did not consume breakfast on a daily basis. A statistically significant difference (p<0.003) was found between males (19%) and females (35%) in relation to the intake of an afternoon snack. There were no significant gender differences regarding frequency of food intake, except for carbonated beverages (p<0.001) and nuts (p<0.047) consumption. Females were more likely than males to spend time watching television, use the Internet, use a mobile phone and sleep; however, the only significant difference found was for Internet use (p<0.003). Being physically active on a daily basis was more prevalent among males (41.6%) than females (16%) (p<0.001). Females (42.9%) were more prone to sleep for less time (<7 h) than males (34.4%)(p<0.08). Conclusion: The findings indicated that a high percentage of health science students in Bahrain had unhealthy dietary habits and sedentary behaviors. Thus, an intervention program to promote healthy dietary patterns and lifestyle habits among university students is highly recommended.

Paternal attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that appear as family pattern or parenting styles play a key role in personality development and stabilizing the identity of adolescents. The present study assesses parenting styles and identity formation status of adolescents studying in and around Mysore city. A total of 400 adolescents (200 early and 200 late adolescents) were randomly selected covering Mysore city and nearby rural areas, of which equal number among were male and female adolescents and also equal number of them were from urban and rural areas. They were provided with Parental authority questionnaire (PAQ) developed by Buri (1991) and Aspects of Identity Questionnaire – IV (AIQ – IV) developed by Sampson (1978). PAQ measured perceived parenting styles. The AIQ scale measured personal, Relational Social and Collective areas of identity formation. The collected data were, coded and analyzed using SPSS software. The data was analyzed by Two-way ANOVA to find significant difference if any, in the developmental stages, area of living as well as gender of the participants. Results revealed that, adolescents with authoritarian Parenting styles had higher personal identity formation than adolescents with permissive and authoritarian parenting styles. Developmental stage showed significant influence on all components of identity-Personal, Relational, Social and Collective, where in early stage adolescents had higher identity than adolescents at later stage. In general, this study showed that the developmental stages had considerable effect on the collective identity formation in both early and late adolescents.

The aim of the research is to identify the effect of the interaction between the e-learning environment and the level of self-learning ability on critical thinking and achievement in mathematics among secondary school students. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher relied on the semi-experimental approach, where the research tools were in the measure of self-learning ability, electronic achievement test, After verifying the validity of the research tools and their consistency, they were applied to a sample of (35) female high school students in Taif, They were divided into the first two experimental groups (18) and the second (17) according to the level of self-learning ability (high and low). The first group is taught through a virtual e-learning environment and the other through a personal electronic learning environment. The data were processed using the SPSS statistical program and the research reached a number of results, the most important of which are: There was a statistically significant difference (0.05) among the average scores of the students in the post-test of the achievement test among the first experimental group using the virtual e-learning environment, and the general average (14.28) and the second experimental group using the personal e-learning environment and got a general average (15.39), and shows the difference in favor of the second experimental group. There was also no statistically significant difference (0.05) between the mean scores of the students of the two groups in the post-measurement scores of the Critical Thinking Skills Scale. A statistically significant difference (0.05) was found between the mean scores of the students of the experimental groups in the academic achievement and the critical thinking skills scale due to the main effect of the different level of self-learning ability (high / low) For students with high self-learning ability, There were no statistically significant differences at (0.05) between the mean scores of the students of the two groups due to interaction between the e-learning environment (virtual / personal) and the level of self-learning (high / low) in academic achievement and critical thinking skills. In the light of the results, a number of recommendations and suggestions were presented to enhance the critical thinking skills and the achievement of mathematics in secondary school students and in all educational stages, Including the awareness of teachers and teachers of the importance of using e-learning environments in achieving the desired educational goals and attention to the development of thinking skills in general and critical thinking skills in particular to ensure the efficiency of the process of learning and continuous learning process.

Control of population is one of the tasks of the government in Indonesia. The increase and movement of population in each region makes a certain area to defeat changes in population surging, and this can affect the economic level of the area. This study aims to process the population of Pematangsiantar City in 2018 which is divided into age groups, namely: Toddlers, Young Children, Early Adolescents, Late Adolescents, Early Adolescents, Late Adulthood, Early Adulthood, Elderly, Late Elderly, and Upper Seniors. Data processing is done by using K-Means method clustering in accordance with the population of Pematangsiantar City per district. With this grouping, we can see that the number of population in each sub-district is based on each age group so that we can implement programs that are more appropriate in improving human resources.

In today’s generation, mathematics will be very useful in our daily lives. Using mathematics is a tool when meeting life-related circumstances involving computation; hence mathematics is particularly important on a daily basis. This research study is entitled “Mindset and Level of Anxiety in General Mathematics among Grade 11 students”. The study focused on the association between the mindset of the students if it is fixed or growth and their anxiety levels in General Mathematics. This research study is quantitative research; it is using a descriptive-correlation design. This study was answered by all Grade 11 students who are taking General Mathematics in the first semester in Jagobiao National High School. In gathering the data, the checklist survey questionnaire was being used. The result found out that students of Jagobiao National High School are more on growth mindset. Students with a growth mindset lead to a moderate level of anxiety in General Mathematics. By using the chi-square, it tells that mindset and level of anxiety has a significant difference. School heads, faculties, and staff can also have monthly activities to diminish the anxiety level of the students. They could also motivate or cheer up students to become growth-minded.
