Meteorological information at an arrival airport is one of the primary variables used to determine refueling of discretionary fuel. This study evaluated the economic value of terminal aerodrome forecasts (TAF), which has not been previously quantitatively analyzed in Korea. The analysis data included 374,716 international flights that arrived at Incheon airport during 2017–2019. A cost–loss model was used for the analysis, which is a methodology to evaluate forecast value by considering the cost and loss that users can expect, considering the decision-making result based on forecast utilization. The value was divided in terms of improving fuel efficiency and reducing CO2 emissions. The results of the analysis indicate that the annual average TAF value for Incheon Airport was approximately 2.2 M–20.1 M USD under two hypothetical rules of refueling of discretionary fuel. This value is up to 26.2% higher than the total budget of 16.3 M USD set for the production of aviation meteorological forecasts by the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Further, it is up to 10 times greater than the 2 M USD spent on aviation meteorological information fees collected by the KMA in 2018.

The world community is facing a pandemic of COVID -19, which is caused by infection of novel corona virus-2. The disease has spread globally with a total of 27.2 Cr conrmed cases, 53.3 L deaths and 24.3 Cr recovered as of December 13. Primarily; it involves the respiratory system and in due course of time affects the other systems too. The pathophysiology and management are still evolving in modern medicine, while developments of vaccine are under the way. As per Ayurveda, it is type of Aupasargikaroga (infectious disease) that is Sankramakaroga (communicable disease) in nature and later on it may derange the basic matrix of bio-humours and alter the status of Agnis (bio-res) and Ojas (immune strength). In view of this, different treatments guidelines have been recommended in the classics of Ayurveda by considering the genetic constitution (Prakriti), kala, bala and other epigenetic factors of the patient. Besides, specic recommendations for Ahara (diet), Nidra (sleep) and Brahmacharya (code of conduct related to mental and physical activities) have also been mentioned to target physical, mental, social and spiritual health. In this context authors have tried to explore the preventive aspects which are feasible for general public to become free from COVID-19 through Ayurveda.

This paper develops a theoretical model to analyze whether a rentier state can diversify its economy away from the rent revenue and hence sustain the economic development and preserve the status-quo. Considering the decarbonization process of the global economy and rapidly fall in economic value of hydrocarbons in the face of the supply glut, rentier states depending on oil and gas revenues urgently need to diversify their economies to avoid social backlash and political upheaval. There are three intertwining factors that determine an effective economic diversification away from the rent revenue: The profitability of non-rentier sectors, the size of the domestic economy to induce a “Big Push” for industrialization to non-rentier sectors, and the level of economic inclusivity. For an optimal level of economic diversification in a rentier state: (1) Non-rentier sectors should be attractive to private agents without the entry barriers; (2) domestic economy should be large enough to induce investment into non-rentier sectors; (3) the ruler(s) should have sufficient tolerance (inclusivity) for private agents investing into non-rentier sectors. Our findings indicate that a rentier state can achieve an optimal level of economic diversification provided that the conditions above are met even without any political change.

Purpose: To address the obesity epidemic and promote children’s health; several health organizations recommend that schools develop comprehensive programs designed to promote physical activity and health behavior. Given a lack of empirical investigation, the authors sought to understand how physical education programs are perceived within such initiatives. Methods: A case study was conducted to acquire insights of key stakeholders (N = 67) in a school nationally recognized for promoting physical activity and health. Data were collected using formal interviews, informal interviews, observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed utilizing grounded theory and constant comparison. Results: Physical education was viewed positively by stakeholders; however, physical educators felt marginalized within the school infrastructure. Systemic barriers to program quality included lack of leadership, feelings of marginalization, and insufficient funding and collaboration. Discussion: Findings raise concerns about the difficulty of sustaining a high-quality physical education program even in a school recognized for significant support of physical activity.

Background/aimsDescemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) preparation is technically demanding and is a limiting factor for uptake of this kind of surgery. Supply methods that simplify the procedure for surgeons are key to increasing uptake. This study compares two different shipping protocols for DMEK.MethodsAn 8.5 mm DMEK graft was punched, marked and loaded for transportation in two different conditions: (A) endothelium trifolded inwards in organ culture conditions (n=7) and (B) endothelium rolled outwards in hypothermic conditions (n=7). Tissues were shipped from Italy to the UK, then analysed for orientation, endothelial cell density, denuded areas, cell mortality, triple viability staining (Hoechst/ethidium homodimer/calcein AM (HEC)), immunolocalisation of ZO-1 and Na/K-ATPase proteins, visualisation of actin filaments using phalloidin and histological analysis using H&E on paraffin-embedded sections.ResultsAll tissues clearly showed the mark used for graft orientation. After shipping in condition A, there was an increase in cell mortality of 8.1% and in denuded areas of 22.4%, whereas for condition B there was an increase in cell mortality of 14.2% and in denuded areas of 34.3% after shipping. HEC staining revealed areas of viable cells and apoptotic cells, with large denuded areas found in the periphery for condition B and within folds for condition A.ConclusionsPrestripped preloaded DMEK grafts retained sufficient viable cells for transplantation, with condition A (endothelium-in) offering the advantage of greater flexibility of use due to a longer shelf-life. HEC analysis provides further detailed information as to the status of DMEK grafts and should be used in future similar studies.

Land potential can be assessed from biophysical land suitability including soil characteristics, climate, and land management. This study aims to determine the potential of paddy fields in Duampanua Sub-District, Pinrang District for irrigated paddy field based on the land biophysical characteristics. The method was qualitative and quantitative approaches. Field surveys use purposive sampling method with 3 object observation. The land suitability class evaluation uses a simple limiting factor approach according to FAO (1976). To support the analysis of rice production data, 30 farmers were interviewed in 3 (three) observation units. The results showed the average rainfall of 2,780.2 mm/year with 9 wet months and 3 dry months categorized as type B2 (Oldeman). The results of soil samples analysis showed the characteristics of the soil with a silty clay texture, silty clay loam and clay; bulk density ranges from 1.36-1.66 g/cm3; cation exchange capacity ranges from 49.64 - 79.75 cmol/kg clay; soil pH ranges from 5.26-5.97; base saturation ranges from 36% - 46.4%; and C-organic ranges from 1.34% - 1.38%. The most dominant types of minerals are orthoclase, biotite, pyroxene, augite, opaque and clay with the symptoms of micropedological concretions and nodules. The land suitability class in the three land units for irrigated paddy rice is classified as S2nr (quite suitability in accordance with the limiting factors for nutrient retention including: base saturation, pH, and C-organic). The average productivity in land units I is 5.1 ton/ha, land unit II is 4.5 ton/ha, and in land units III 5.26 ton/ha.
