Discussed are problems of higher education modernization in order to improve education quality and get competent specialists. Recommendations for the educational process reform in higher institutions are closely connected with state exams, curricula and work programs, and financing issues, and the duration of study at the university. It is necessary to amend both the tactics and the strategy of higher education, and first and foremost, it is obligatory to stop using falsification of figures and mark the student accordingly to his or her progress. This will allow the student to create self-motivation for learning, based on the elimination of irresponsibility and slovenly work, permissiveness in receiving knowledge. In higher education, the principle "From each person according to his or her ability, to each person according to his or her work" should be a priority

The problem of alienation of youth from traditional cultural and moral values is one of the urgent in the modern information world. For a comprehensive solution to this problem in the educational process of the university, it is necessary to determine the risk factors emergence for the moral alienation of students. The article reveals the content of the main risk groups: 1) external risks caused by the general cultural tendencies of the modern world (the sociocultural crisis of the information civilization associated with the loss of a stable worldview by a person); 2) information risks arising from the use of information technology (massive impact of rapidly growing volumes of heterogeneous information; attractiveness of the virtual world); 3) organizational and pedagogical risks caused by negative phenomena in the educational space (low level of professional competence; irrational organization of the educational process); 4) psychological risks associated with factors of causing psychological damage to students in the process of interpersonal relations (professional burnout of a teacher; authoritarian management style; psychological violence, low self-esteem of a student). The article analyzes the significance of Wilhelm von Humboldt’s philosophical ideas about the model of the organization of university education in light of modern challenges. The fundamental ideas of the Humboldt’s project are discussed. The “fictitiousness” of the university as a social institution was the most important advantage of Humboldt's educational strategy. The educational agenda here is not determined by institutional interests, which means that it turns out to be flexible and does not seek to maintain the status quo. At the same time, it is the destruction of “fictitiousness” and the university's establishment as a “real” social institution that becomes one of the most important symptoms of the crisis in the modern academic world. One of the vivid expressions of this crisis is the priority of quantitative indicators of the educational process's effectiveness. The key difference of a modern university is its aspiration for the future. In turn, an appeal to the future turns out to be a pseudo-strategy of the educational process, since the future itself is an unattainable goal. At the same time, Humboldt’s project suggested that only in the image of a person does the ultimate goal of education find unlimited development opportunities. The author believes that returning to the “Humboldtian man” can be an important task for university reform in the modern world.

The article is devoted to the actual problem of prevention of extremist moods of students in modern conditions of functioning of educational organizations of higher education. The development of prevention programs that ensure the effectiveness of the corresponding preventive activities of higher education institutions should be based on empirically confirmed and scientifically based information about the patterns and factors of occurrence and development of extremist moods of ethnic and religious orientation among students. The article presents the results of an empirical study that reveals the current state of the problem of the spread of extremist moods among modern students and the level of their propensity to extremist activities. Based on the results of the conducted empirical research, the author constructs a predictive model of possible manifestations of extremism among students studying in modern Russian universities, thereby determining the need and feasibility of developing effective measures to prevent the development of extremism in the youth environment. The empirical study involved 563 students of 2-3 courses of a number of Russian universities that carry out educational activities and implement educational programs in various areas of training (law, Economics, psychological, psychological-pedagogical and pedagogical education, etc.). Based on the identification of indicators of a person's propensity to ethnic extremism and the development of appropriate diagnostic tools, the author conducts a study, which concludes that it is necessary to search for effective measures to prevent extremist manifestations in the student environment in the process of organizing the educational process of the University. The revealed level of students ' propensity to extremism and its manifestation in their life activity is the main indicator of the relevance of the problem of preventing ethnic extremism among students in the process of their education at the University.

T he current epidemic situation in Russia and the world caused by coronavirus infection requires prompt solutions to eliminate the consequences of the pandemic in almost all sectors of economic activity. The isolation of the population from mutual contacts was one of the effective solutions to the problem. This arose the need for the educational institutions to promptly switch to a remote mode of education. Those involved in the distance learning process faced a wide range of different problems, which defines the topicality of developing the efficient measures aimed to overcome the challenges of the distance learning process. The subject of the work is the analysis of the processes arising from the sudden transition of the educational environment of the university to the distance learning format, the development of a rating model designed to grade the problems which are important for the students and which are determined by the transition to the distance learning format, and the development of directions for solving the established problems. The aim of the study is to identify the problems that have arisen from the transition to a distance learning format among the students and to develop an organizational and managerial tool to fix these problems. The study relies on the information taken from a secondary data analysis performed by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) and the results of their own research by the students specializing in Economics at the Institute of Economics and Management in Penza State University. The research methods included SPSS based comparative and frequency analysis. The scientific novelty of the work is as follows: 1) a rating evaluation of the problems arising from the transfer of the educational process of the university to a distance learning format in the context of a "shock" transition associated with force majeure caused by coronavirus infection has been developed; 2) University students’ satisfaction with distance learning and students’ readiness to apply the technological distance learning tools and possibilities of Moodle based electronic educational resources in the distance learning format have been identified. Statistical processing of the research results with nonparametric criteria contributes into the reliability of the findings and the recommendation. The practical significance of the research lies in the developed concept of the organizational and managerial mechanism for overcoming the problems arising from the transition to the university’s distance learning environment. This mechanism refers to the social and informational areas, reduces the time of transition to the distance learning format, and accounts for the interests and readiness of the teaching staff and students. Further research is seen to be connected with monitoring the validity of the revealed problems in their dynamics with a one semester lag.

Globalization processes along with a dynamic life inevitably set new challenges for universities. The content of educational programs should be oriented not only to meet the needs of society in the modern world, but also to be predicted for the future. The institution of higher education should be open to the needs of the labour market, innovations and public queries. When preparing a specialist in a particular field of knowledge, the university is supposed to lay the foundations for adoption of innovations, continuous education, etc. One of the means of realizing the set goals is the introduction of the practice-oriented training. The purpose of the research is to analyze the development of the introduction of the literary theater in the educational process of Boris Grinchenko University of Kyiv. For this purpose, the mission of the Center of Competences «Literary Theater», created at the Department of Ukrainian Literature and Comparative Studies of the Institute of Philology, has been presented; students’ expectations for conducting a series of practical classes at the Center have been studied by using the survey method; meaningful achievements of introduction of the elements of theater pedagogy into the educational process of the University College have been conceptualized; the experience of readings in the course «Theory of Mass Communication in Communication» has been presented. For studying practical experience, empirical methods of pedagogical research have been laid as a basis. The results of the questionnaire show that in the first year students prefer personal development rather than professional improvement. Most of the answers have to do with the fears students would like to overcome. That is why the work in the Center is designed in a way to facilitate the formation of not only professional competencies, but also interactive skills: organizational, communicative, perceptual, predictive, etc. As a result, it poses the effective implementation of the practice-oriented educational strategy of the institution. The project work has shown that it is important to take videos of performances and intermediate stages of work with the subsequent obligatory analyses of what has been shot by a camera. Given the experience of the University College in the preparation of theatrical excursions, it is worth considering the possibility of touring and festival performances of students as a source of experience in the formation of a specialist. Scenario reading of an unknown text by students is an optimal form of working with students of non-philological specialties. In most cases, staging is merely an element of a practical training; however, it plays its significant part in the building of professional competencies

The article proposes a model for forecasting the success of student’s learning. The model is a Markov process with continuous time, such as the process of “death and reproduction”. As the parameters of the process, the intensities of the processes of obtaining and assimilating information are offered, and the intensity of the process of assimilating information takes into account the attitude of the student to the subject being studied. As a result of applying the model, it is possible for each student to determine the probability of a given formation of ownership of the material being studied in the near future. Thus, in the presence of an automated information system of the university, the implementation of the model is an element of the decision support system by all participants in the educational process. The examples given in the article are the results of an experiment conducted at the Institute of Space and Information Technologies of Siberian Federal University under conditions of blended learning, that is, under conditions when classroom work is accompanied by independent work with electronic resources.
