Abstract Seaweed (known as the marine algae) has a tradition of being part of the animal feed in the coastal areas, from ancient times. Seaweed, are mixed with animal feed, because when consumed alone can have some negative effects on the animal. Seaweed are very rich in useful metabolite (pigments, carotenoids, phlorotannin, polyunsaturated fatty acids, agar, alginate and carrageenan) and minerals (iodine, zinc sodium calcium, magnesium, iron, selenium), being considered as a natural source of additives that can substitute the antibiotic usage in various animals. Inclusion of naturally available material in poultry feed additive can have a positive influence on the poultry performance and enrich the quality of their by product. As an easily available and renewable biomass rich in biologically active compounds, seaweeds can meet this demand. Different forms of seaweed powder from naturally occurring biomass, cultivated or waste biomass, extracted compounds, post extraction residues or liquid extracts may be used in poultry feeding. This study describes the nutritional values of seaweeds and their effects in poultry feed additive, and to what extent their unique properties can serve as an alternative to antibody growth promoter.

Established that the largest distribution combined with feed additives which include a number of biologically active substances. As an alternative to antibiotics, the use of which recently banned their production and significantly reduced feeding system is used four groups of drugs, enzymes, probiotics, prebiotics and аcidifiers. The largest number of feed additives used in poultry feed. Therefore, to improve the consumption and use of feed efficiency, obtaining maximum animal performance ensured a high level of balanced nutrition using the same enzyme–probiotic supplements. It is to include such feed additives «Proenzym» which consists of live bacteria genus Bacillus subtilis and an enzyme tsellyulaza. What prevents gastrointestinal diseases, improves digestion and absorption of essential nutrients intake. Therefore, the aim was to study the effect of feeding different doses feed additive «Proenzym» in the quail Full–feed and its impact on productivity and internal organs. For the experiment selected 200 day old Estonian quail breed. Of these, the principle of analogues formed four groups of 50 goals each. The duration of the experiment – 56 days. The first (control) group during the entire experiment received a basic diet, and quail research groups in addition to the basic diet fed different doses of feed additives. For the effects of various doses feed additive had a positive effect on live weight quails in 42 and 49–day age. Yes, most live weight at the end of the experiment were females and males second experimental group 10.8% and 8.3%, which in addition to full–feed introduced minimum dose «Proenzym» The introduction of the new maximum amount of feed factor had a significant impact on the weight of internal organs, quails second group for the actions of study drug increased the mass of the lungs and liver, respectively, 0.6 g and 3.4 g, and gallbladder in 4 experimental group 0.16 g. Therefore, we can conclude that the diets of quails best was the maximum amount of feed additive.

Poultry production is an important area of the agricultural economy. Nowadays, there is an interest in novel sources of feed additives that will improve production performance and poultry health. As an easily available and renewable biomass rich in biologically active compounds, seaweeds can meet this demand. Different forms of seaweeds–seaweed powder from naturally occurring biomass, cultivated or waste biomass, extracted compounds, post-extraction residues or liquid extracts–may be used in poultry feeding. Inclusion of this unconventional material in the poultry nutrition can positively influence the poultry performance along with its health and enrich poultry products with active compounds, such as micro- and macroelements, polyunsaturated fatty acids and pigments. Seaweeds also reduce lipids and cholesterol in eggs. Moreover, due to their unique properties, they can serve as an alternative to antibiotic growth promoters. This review presents the latest developments in the use of seaweeds in poultry nutrition, as well as its limitations.

With the prohibition of the use of Antibiotic growth promotors (AGP) used in animal feed, especially in broilers, the use of feed additives such as herbs, probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics or mixtures of some of these ingredients is currently widely used as feed replacements for AGP substitutes. One of the commercial feed additives that contain combinations herbal and probiotics is Promix®. In broiler maintenance, one vaccine that must be given is Newcastle Disease (ND) vaccine. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of supplementation of commercial feed combination of herbs and probiotics in broilers given ND vaccines. A total of 42 broilers were divided into two, group A (vaccinated with ND) and B (not vaccinated ND), each with 21 heads. Group A is divided into groups A1, A2 and A3 each with 7 heads. The A1 group is given only basal feed; A2 basal feed and AGP; A3 basal feed and Promix®. Group B is divided by B1, B2 and B3 same as group A before. Broilers are maintained for 5 weeks and weighing each week. All data obtained were statistically analyzed using One Way ANOVA and continued with Duncan's post hoc test. The results of this study were that the group of chickens given the ND vaccine and given supplements of Promix® had greater weight gain (P˂0.05) compared to the AGP and basal groups in the fifth week while in the group of chickens that were not given the ND vaccine but given supplement Promix® feed had greater weight gain (P˂0.05) compared to the AGP and basal groups in the fourth week. In the fifth week there was no significant difference (P˂0.05) between all feed groups in the group not given the ND vaccine. The conclusion of this study that feed additives contain combinations herbal and probiotics can replace AGP as feed additive in broiler. By giving ND vaccine the weight gain of the feed group plus Promix® showed a significant increase in weight gain.

Corn is a feedstuff that use as a major component of energy sources and hard to be replaced other feedstuff in poultry ration, even its use is always above 45% in the composition of poultry feed. However, domestic maize availability is limited and the price is changes depend on season harvest time, and most of the availability for animal feed is still imported. Besides that, there is a ban on the use of Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP) in poultry feed and drinking water effectively since January 2018, so an effort is needed to replace AGP with natural feed additives or Natural growth promoters (NGP). Based on the above conditions, it is necessary to make efforts to replace corn with local feed ingredients, one of which is apple extraction pomace (apple pomaces). The pomace of apple extraction, if left unchecked, will quickly rot so that it will potentially as an environmental pollutant. The potential of apple pomace extract can be used as a feed ingredient with high sugar and energy content (2300 kcal/kg BK). This research was conducted in the Field Laboratory of Sumber Sekar, Laboratory of Animal Nutrition and Feed, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Agricultural Technology Laboratory, Brawijaya University. The experiment used 192 DOC broilers and placed them in 8 postal cages per replication. Research on Enzymanted apple pomaces (EAP) as a substitute for corn used a completely randomized design (CRD) P0: basal feed, P1: substitution of EAP 5%, P2: substitution of EAP 10%, P3: substitution of EAP 15%. The variables observed were the production performances include (feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion ration) and the % internal organs. Based on the research, the results were not significantly different on the production performances and the % of organs in broilers. The use of apple pomaces can be used as a substitute for broiler feed up to a level of 15%.

Practicability of using a complex mineral and vitamin feed additive (CMVFA) in the ration of black-and-white calf breed was studied. Decreased content of such elements as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, manganese, copper, zinc, and cobalt was registered. The correlation of nutritive and mineral substances, and the level of their availability for digestion did not provide for their need. CMVFA use facilitated the increase of all hematologic parameters. Tested recipes which had different content of sapropel and zeolite, as well as various types of macronutrients, microelements, and vitamins, positively influenced the digestive processes in animal bodies. Young stock from the test group that was receiving food additives according to recipe No. 1 showed 6.6 increase in the quantity of red blood cells compared to control group animals, and 6.93 increase in hemoglobin quantity the ones who were fed according to recipe No. 2 demonstrated the increase by 11.05 and 11.39 recipe No. 3 showed 16.75 and 15.27 increase, which means that the ratio of macronutrients and microelements present in CMVFA and the mutual interaction of copper, iron, and cobalt played a special role in the concentration of formed elements due to the fact that they are integral elements of blood. Total protein of young stock that was receiving food additives according to recipe No. 1 was 1.99 higher than in test group animals calcium 16.02 higher carotene 10.92 as for recipe No. 2 the values were increased by 4.91, 25.96, and 19.12 recipe No. 3 3.58, 27.07, and 20.21. Substantial increase in the content of protein, calcium, phosphorus, and carotene compared to control group animals can be explained by the fact that their insufficiency in animal feed was replenished due to the use of feed additives, and as a result their content increased in the serum but did not go beyond the norm and corresponded to physiological norms.

It is important to search for new highly effective multicomponent compounds that are able to influence several of animals’ homeostasis systems simultaneously to improve the physiological adaptation of fur animals to different conditions of nutrition. This is the function of the feed additive Floravit® – a natural bioregulator. The compound is a combination of biologically active ingredients produced by the mycelial fungus Fusarium sambucinum. Studied was the effect of Floravit® on the structure of the skin and hair in adult female sable (Martes zibellina). The scientific and economic experiment was conducted at the JSC “Plemzavod Pushkinskyi” in the Moscow Region during the period of winter fur formation in October-November. The study of the morphological structure of the hair and skin cover was carried out in the chine, side and rump topographical areas. The structure of the guard hairs in the main topographical areas was examined on a scanning electron microscope. The experiment showed that administration of Floravit® per os to adult female sable at a dose of 1.0 ml per head per day throughout the period of winter pelt formation in October-November has an influence on the morphological structure of all the categories of hair on all topographic pelt areas. Animals in the test group exposed to Floravit® exhibited an increase in guide hair length on the chine and side, when compared to controls, by 4.1 mm (p < 0.001) and by 2.8 mm (p < 0.01), respectively. The length of guard hair on the chine, side and rump increased by 8.1, 7.8 and 7.8 mm (p < 0.001), respectively. An increase in down hair length was recorded in all areas of the pelt, when compared to controls, by 13.0, 4.5 and 6.3 mm (p < 0.001). An increase in dermal thickness was recorded in the chine area by 0.7 mm (p < 0.001). The specified changed in the skin and hair structure in sable adult females after using Floravit® have shown a positive influence on the quality of hair cover. As a result, bioregulator Floravit® takes part in the adaptation process of the sable organism to external factors.

One of the conditions for obtaining high-quality pig products is the use of feed additives, which contain all the necessary biologically active substances, eliminating their deficiency in feed and acting as catalysts for metabolic processes in pigs. That is why the aim of the study was to study the effect of feed additive “Sylimevit” on the enzymatic and non-enzymatic parts of the antioxidant system of piglets after weaning. Two groups of piglets were formed – control and experimental, in the amount of 10 individuals in each group, selected on the principle of analogues – age, breed and body weight. During the weaning period, the piglets were kept under the sow in special machines, had constant access to the mother, and from the age of 5 days – free access to concentrated feed. Feeding of animals was carried out in accordance with the norms for a given age of pigs. Prior to the study, a clinical and physiological examination of the piglets was performed. Their general condition and activity when eating food were taken into account. On the 28th day of life, the piglets were weaned from the sow and regrouped from different nests in order to be further maintained during the period of fattening and rearing with a change in the structure of the diet, which served as technological stress for the animals. From the age of 5 days, piglets of all groups were fed pre-starter feed. Piglets of the experimental group, from 21 to 40 days of age, were additionally fed the feed supplement “Sylimevit” at a dose of 100 mg/kg body weight per day. Feeding piglets Silimevit feed enhances their antioxidant status. The use of this feed additive in piglets contributed to the activation of both enzymatic and non-enzymatic parts of the antioxidant defense system of piglets after weaning, as indicated by an increase in blood 35-day-old piglets superoxide dismutase activity by 26.9 % (P < 0.001), catalase – 41.1 % (P < 0.001), glutathione peroxidase – by 52.7 % (P < 0.05), glutathione reductase – by 53.5 % (P < 0.05), the content of reduced glutathione – by 75 % (P < 0.001). This is due to the fact that silimevit contains active substances such as milk thistle and vitamins, which are strong direct-acting antioxidants and directly interact with free radicals and reactive oxygen species.

Abstract Phytogenic feed additives that contain anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may have potential to reduce inflammation and oxidation observed during bouts of heat stress. The trial objective was to determine the effects of a phytogenic feed additive on markers of stress in heifers subjected to diurnal heat stress (dHS). Eighteen Holstein and four Jersey heifers (5–6 months of age; d1 BW=205±9 kg) were assigned to two dietary treatments (n = 11) based on breed and age; 1) a basal TMR diet (CTL), 2) CTL supplemented with 0.25 g/head/d of a proprietary blend of phytogenics (PFA; BIOMIN America, Inc., Overland Park, KS). Heifers were housed individually and fed their respective treatments for 14d prior to dHS (d-14-1), subjected dHS (d1-7), and followed through a recovery period (d8-11). Weights were collected at d1 (baseline), d7 (end of dHS), and d11 (end of recovery). The temperature set point was assigned at 33°C from 0900 to 2100 h and allowed to equilibrate with outside temperature during night (24°C) for a total of 7d dHS. Total DMI (tDMI) and DMI from 0900 to 2100 h (hsDMI) were recorded daily. Serum was collected at d1, 2, 7 and 11 to determine effect of treatment on markers of oxidation, inflammation, and stress. Treatment effects were analyzed using PROC MIXED in SAS with treatment and time as fixed effects and heifer as a random effect. Temperature humidity index during dHS was greater during the day (84.5) versus night (73.3). There were no treatment differences (P>0.05) in d 0–11 on ADG, ADFI, or GF between treatments. However, PFA numerically increased hsDMI, reduced (P< 0.05) haptoglobin and tended to reduce (P< 0.10) lipopolysaccharide binding protein compared with CTL. Overall, dietary PFA may be a potential strategy to mitigate the stresses that heifers experience during dHS.
