Frozen shrimp processing waste has the potential to be used as feed, but the characteristics of the shrimp shells need to be improved so that they can be digested. Fermentation using three types of microbes in stages has been studied, to determine the optimal processing time that yields proximate values and protein digestibility of shrimp waste concentrate. Completely randomized design (CRD), 3 treatments and 7 replications, conducted with treatments of shrimp waste bioconversion in stage over time, T1 = Bacillus licheniformis (Bl.) 1 day + Lactobacillus sp. (Ls.) 1 day; + Saccharomyces cerevisiae (Sc) 1 day; T2 = Bl. 2 days + Ls. 2 days + Sc = 2 days; T3 = Bl. 3 days + Ls. 3 days + Sc = 3 days. Product of shrimp waste bioconversion was used as a nutrient concentrate in dietary of local poultry (CP 15%, ME 2750 kcal/kg). The best proximate analysis value showed that each stage overtime two days of bioconversion with Bacillus licheniformis, followed by Lactobacillus sp. and finally fermented by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The proximate analysis resulted that the Crude Protein of product bioconversion was 48.5%. Extract ether, Calcium and Phosphorous contents respectively were 7.81%, 7.57% and 3.14%. The best value of digestibility of protein feed containing bioconversion product of concentrations of local poultry was 72.91%.

Motile Aeromonas Septicaemia disease (MAS) attacking tilapia has increased in recent years as a consequence of intensive aquaculture activities, which led to losses in aquaculture industry. The agent causing MAS disease is Aeromonas hydrophila. The disease can be controlled with the β-glucan. As immunostimulants, β-glucans can also increase resistance in farmed tilapia. Studies on the use of β-glucan extracted from baker's yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was intended to evaluate the non-specific immune system of tilapia that were challenged with Aeromonas hydrophila. The method used was an experimental method with a completely randomized design consisting of four treatments with three replicats. The dose of β-glucan used as treatments were 0 mg.kg-1 fish (Control), 5 mg.kg-1 fish (B), 10 mg.kg-1 fish (C) and 20 mg.kg-1 fish (D), each treatment as injected three times at intervals of 3 days, the injection volume of 0.5 ml/fish for nine days and resistance surveillance for seven days. The results showed that the difference in the amount of β-glucan and the frequency of the injected real influence on total leukocytes, phagocytic activity and resistance. Total leukocytes, phagocytic activity and resistance to treatment was best achieved by the administration of C a dose of  10 mg.kg-1 of the fish© Penyakit Motil Aeromonas Septicaemia (MAS) yang menyerang ikan nila mengalami peningkatan selama beberapa tahun terakhir sebagai konsekuensi dari kegiatan akuakultur intensif, yang menyebabkan kerugian dalam industri budidaya. Media salinity is a masking factor that plays an important role in controlling the process of shrimp molting and osmoregulation. Both of them are ecophysiological factors for shrimp life, so it is necessary to know the optimum level or range of media salinity for each phase of the molting phase changes in the stage and osmoregulation phase. This study was conducted to examine the molting frequency of adult L. vannamei which was ablated and cultivated at various levels of salinity. This research was carried out for 60 days. This study uses experimental laboratory methods with a systematic randomized design (RAS) with 4 treatments and 3 replications in each treatment. The treatments tested were salinity with S1 treatments (10 ppt, 289.20 mOsm / l postmolt H2O isosmotic), S2 (15 ppt, 432.80 mOsm / l H2O initial intermolt isosmotic), S3 (25 ± 1 ppt, 725, 15 mOsm / l H2O isosmotic final intermolt) and S4 (29 ± 1 ppt, 820.10 mOsm / l H2O isosmotic molt). Data were analyzed with ANOVA. Meanwhile, the difference in effect between treatments was obtained through Duncan's multiple area test. ANOVA results showed that various levels of isoosmotic media salinity at various molting phases had an influence (p <0.05) on molting frequency. The best value of molting frequency was in the S4 treatment (29 ± 1 ppt) (close to isoosmotic molt) 10 times. In the maintenance of L. vannamei which is affixed, it should pay attention to the needs of isoosmotic media, namely media with a salinity of 25 ± 1-29 ± 1 ppt (final intermolt isoosmotic range / premolt to molt). the difference in effect between treatments was obtained through Duncan's multiple region test. ANOVA results showed that various levels of isoosmotic media salinity at various molting phases had an influence (p <0.05) on molting frequency. The best value of molting frequency is in the treatment of S4 (29 ± 1 ppt) (close to isoosmotic molt) 10 times. This study was done to determine the effects of bale sizes of bio-ammoniated rice straw on its nutrient quality and in vitro digestibility. Rice straw were bio-ammoniated by adding 2 g urea and 1 g probiotic/kg DM. By following a completely randomized design, rice straw was baled in 3 different weights (15, 25, and 35 kg) with six replications for each treatment, and then stored for 3 weeks. In the end of the week 3, bales were opened, aired, and then sampled for proximate analysis (dry matter, organic matter, crude protein, and crude fiber) and digestibility by in vitro gas production method. Using analysis of variance method, the proximate data showed that greater the bales size (15, 25, and 35 kg) increased crude protein (7.59, 7.86, and 9.95%, respectively; P<0.05) and decreased crude fiber contents (24.1, 22.1, and 18.8%, respectively; P<0.05). By increasing the size of bales also increased a, b, and c fractions (-0.79, 0.26, and 0.82 mL/100 mg DM; 20.2, 18.2, and 17.6 mL/100 mg DM; 0.012, 0.014, and 0.019 mL/h, respectively; P<0.05) as well as gas production (11.4, 11.5, and 13.8 mL/100 mg DM, respectively; P<0.05). It can be concluded that packing bio-ammoniated rice straw in 35 kg bale is the most effective way in increasing nutrient quality and digestibility of rice straw.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of thyme essential oil and enzyme supplementation on rations with two different energy (wheat or corn) and protein resources (soy or rapeseed meals) on gut morphology and protein digestibility of broiler chickens. Three hundred eighty-four male Ross-308 broiler chickens were used with a 23 factorial arrangement with treatments according to a completely randomized design. The morphological examinations of the intestine were carried out on 1-cm long excised segments from duodenum, jejunum and ileum. Adding wheat to the diet increased small intestine length in birds compared to other feedstuffs (P <0.05). Duodenum crypt depth and jejunum villi length were also higher in groups fed with rations containing wheat (P <0.05). Groups that received thyme essential oil and enzyme supplementation had increased length of the duodenum (P <0.05). However, the two- and three-factor interaction effects were not significant. Protein digestibility was not affected by treatment (P >0.05). Feeding wheat to broiler chickens may increase the surface area for nutrient absorption in the small intestine as compensation for the anti-nutritive activity of non-starch polysaccharides in wheat-based diets. Wheat based diets are expected to be acceptable for broilers when supplemented with appropriate enzymes or thyme essential oil.

An experiment was performed to investigate the probiotic effect of Saccharomyces boulardii and Saccharomyces cerevisiae on yield, antioxidant activity, and expression of interleukin-6 gene in Holstein calves. Sixteen calves were divided into 4 dietary treatments with 4 calves/treatment. Experimental treatment diets include 1) control (without probiotic use), 2) milk soluble probiotics based on S. boulardii (1 g/kg), 3) milk soluble probiotics based on S. cerevisiae (1 g/kg) and 4) A mixture of yeast probiotics S. boulardii and S. cerevisiae as a solution in dairy milk (1 g/kg each). The completely randomized design was used in this experiment. The results showed that feeding S. boulardii and S. cerevisiae did not have a significant effect on performance traits compared with control. There was no significant difference between the different treatments for the number of antioxidant enzymes compared to the controls. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the treatments used probiotics were higher than the control. The expression of interleukin-6 gene expression was increased significantly (P<0.05) for treatments 3 and 4 on Days 10, 30 and 60 compared to the control. In conclusion, addition of probiotics did not alter performance traits of antioxidant activity, but the S. cerevisaetreatment did increase interleukin-6 gene expression which suggests an effect on the immune system.
