Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by Dengue virus. The disease is spread rapidly in the territory of Indonesia by Aedes aegypti mosquito as the vector. Using Moringa Aloifera leaf extract as a natural larvacide is an attempt to control the disease. This study aims to determine the effect of Moringa Aloifera leaf extract on the mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae. Moringa Aloifera leaf extract is obtained by maceration. The experimental design was divided into negative control groups containing aquades, positive controls containing abate and sample treatment groups. Phytochemical test and UV-Vis spectroscopic quantitative test to identify active compounds. A total of 20 Aedes aegypti larvae were put into a glass containing a solution of distilled water, abate solution and sample solution. Observations are made every 2 hours for 24 hours. The results showed that Moringa leaf extract solution could kill larvae at LC50 3953.17 ppm and LT50 18.98 hours. The mortality rates of larvae at each concentration were 1000 ppm, 5.25 units / 2 hours; 2000ppm, 5.28 units / 2 hours; 3000ppm, 5.91 units / 2 hours; 4000 ppm, 7.18 units / 2 hours, and 5000 ppm 8.63 units / 2 hours. The results showed that Moringa Aloifera leaf extract can kill Aedes aegypti larvae because they contain alkaloids, tannins and flavonoids.Keywords: larvacide, Moringa, Aedes aegypti larvae

SummaryCooling techniques have several applications for reproduction in aquaculture. However, few studies have sought to create protocols for cooling and cryopreservation of Macrobrachium amazonicum embryos. Thus, the objective of this work was to verify the survival of M. amazonicum embryos and the correlation between embryonic volume and mortality of M. amazonicum embryos after cooling. Embryo pools were collected from three females and divided into two treatment groups: dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) 3% and ethylene glycol (EG) 0.5%, both of them associated with 2 M sucrose. Positive and negative control groups consisted of seawater 10%. Aliquots of 10 µg of embryos were placed in Falcon® tubes containing a cryoprotectant solution and submitted directly to the test temperature of 2°C for 2 and 6 h of cooling. Further analysis of survival and embryonic volume were performed under a stereoscopic microscope. Data were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA), and means were compared using the Tukey test at 5%. The highest embryonic survival rate was observed after the shortest storage time for both the DMSO 3% and the 0.5% EG groups, with survival rates of 84.8 ± 3.9 and 79.7 ± 2.8%, respectively. There was a reduction in survival after 24 h, with the DMSO 3% group presenting a survival rate of 71.7 ± 6.6%, and the EG 0.5% group, 66 ± 6.9%. Survival showed a statistically significant difference when compared with the positive controls after 2 h and 24 h of cooling, with 99 ± 0.5% and 95.8 ± 1.5% survival rates, respectively. There was no significant statistical difference in the embryonic volume, but it was possible to observe a change in the appearance of the embryos, from a translucent coloration to an opaque white or brownish coloration, after 24 h in incubators. Thus, it can be concluded that survival is inversely proportional to storage time and that, although there was no change in the embryonic volume after cooling, a change in the appearance of embryos could be observed.

Effort to control DHF (Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever) vectors without toxic substances by using natural and enviromentally friendly materials was natural repellent made using plants that were widely available in the community.Many types of plants contain  various secondary metabolite compound substances that have the potential to be used as natural insecticides, especially as repellent of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito. The research needs  to be done to determine the effectiveness of basil leaves, citronella leaves, clove leaves and betel leaves as a repellent against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. This research method was an experiment in the laboratory. The materials used for this research were basil leaves, citronella leaves, clove leaves, and betel leaves. The extracted leaves were then made lotions with certain formulas, tested as a natural repellent against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. The concentrations used were 20%, 40% and 80% as well as negative control (0%) and positive control (brand x lotions). The number of mosquitoes used in the study were 25 x 4 treatments = 100 mosquitoes. The replication or repetition was done 10 times. To find out the difference in the number of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes that perch on the hands of probandus which has been smeared with basil leaf, citronella leaf, clove leaf and betel leaf extracts uses Anova Statistical tests and kruskal wallis. To see the difference between concentrations was tested with LSD or Mann-Whitney test. The calculation result of the number of Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes that perch before and after applying the lotion, the lowest was the lotion of citronella leaf extract 0% (11); 20% (2); 40% (1); 80% (1); The highest protection capacity of extract lotion is citronella leaves with concetrations of 20% (81,1%); 40% (95%), 80%(98,2%); There were no significant differences between the lotion concentrations of 20% and 80%, while the concentration of 40% is significantly different. Then the LSD follow-up test finds that the protective capacity of lotion of clove leaf extract is negative and citronella leaf extract is positive. The most effective protection capacity against Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes was lotion of citronella leaf extract with concentration of 40% (95%) and a concentration of 80% (98,2%), proven by the value of protection capacity that is stable even though it has been used for up to 6 hours and can exceed the protection capacity of lotion x (90,3%). It is reccomended that further research needs to be developed to optimize the lotion of citronella leaf extract 40% and 80% with orgonolaptic test of color, aroma, stickness and comfort of its use.

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease that always increasing in prevalence. Excessive glucose intake and oxidative stress that can lead to damage to the pancreatic cell or insulin resistance, are such factors that influence the occurrence of diabetes mellitus. Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff leaf contains active metabolites such as flavonoid which able to decrease free radical levels. This study aimed to prove the effectiveness of Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff leaves extract on blood glucose levels in alloxan-induced Wistar rats. In this study, twenty-five male Wistar rats were divided into five groups. On day 0, the negative control and each treatment group injected with 125 mg/kg dose of alloxan and would be checked on 4th day. On the 4th day after the rats had diabetes, normal group (K-1) was given only standard feed, Negative control (K-2) was given only alloxan intraperitoneally on day 0, first treatment group (K-3) was given 50 mg/kg dose of Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff, second treatment group (K-4) was given 100 mg/kg dose of the leaf extract, and the third treatment group (K-5) was given the leaf 200 mg/kg dose of the leaf extract. On the 10th day, fasting blood glucose was taken from the rats. Post-test only group design was used to be the experimental design. There were significant differences in the treatment groups (K-3, K-4, and K-5) compared to the negative control group (K-2) after treatment. The mean of blood glucose levels decreased with the increased doses of Graptophyllum pictum (L.) Griff leaf extract treatment. The treatment groups (K-3, K-4, and K-5) were not significant compared to the normal group (K-1).

Abstract. The study of the efficacy of betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) and garlic extract (Allium sativum) on the mortality of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae was carried out at the Zoology Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Halu Oleo Kendari University. Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae were obtained from the rearing of F2 from Aedes aegypti eggs that were taken by ovitrap from in Kambu Village, Kendari City, which is an endemic area of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF). Extrac of betel leaf (Piper betle L.) and garlic extract (Allium sativum) at concentrations of 1.0%, 2.0% and 3.0% respectively and their combinations were given to Aedes aegypti larvae (L4). The results showed that the highest larval mortality (88%) occurred after 24 hours of exposure to betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) at a concentration of 3%, whereas with garlic extract (Allium sativum) the highest larval mortality (98%) occurred at concentration 3 %, and for the highest larval mortality (99%) found in a combination of 3% betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) and 3% garlic extract (Allium sativum). Based on WHO (2009), the most effective treatment for killing Aedes aegyti larvae is 3% garlic (Allium sativum) extract and a combination of 3% betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) and 3% garlic extract (Allium sativum).Keywords:  Biopesticide, Mortality, Aedes aegypti, betle leaf (Piper betle L.), garlic (Allium sativum).

African Leaf and palm leaf crops have a secondary metabolite content such as alkaloids and flavonoids that are efficacious as diuretics. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of diuretics from the combination  African leaf ethanol extract and palm leaf ethanol extract. Methods used Eksperiemental. The test of diuretic activity is conducted divided into 6 treatment groups. Each group consists of 3 tails of white rats. Group 1 (positive control) administered Furosemide 3.6 mg/kgBB, Group 2 (negative control) was given suspension Na-CMC 0.5%, group 3 without treatment as well as groups of 4.5, and 6 in a row administered a combination of African leaf extract doses and extracts Oil palm leaf ethanol in a row of "50 mg/kgBB + 67, 5mg/kgBB"; "100mg/kgBB + 135 mg/kgBB"; and "200 mg/kgBB + 270 mg/kgBB". Each mouse is then given a 20ml NaCl/kgBB as an oral loading dose. Measured urine volume is recorded every hour for 6 hours after it continues to measure urine volume. The results showed that the combination of African leaf ethanol extract dosage and palm leaf ethanol extract had a diuretic effect if it was compared with negative control. The conclusion of the study was the results of the study showed that the combination of African leaf extract dosage and palm leaf extract is the most effective dose of Group 6 (African leaf extract 200 mg/kgBB + palm leaves 270 mg/kgBB ). Because it produces the highest urine volume of 23.01 ml.

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease that is found in some tropical and subtropical regions. This disease is caused by dengue virus and is transmitted to humans through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. the solution taken in controlling DHF is to break the life cycle of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Vector control is generally carried out using synthetic larvicides, namely abate / temefos, but the use of abate can cause residues, environmental pollution, poisoning and resistance of the eradicated vectors so that natural larvasides from plants are needed namely temulawak rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) for vector control. The purpose of this study was to determine whether temulawak rhizome extract was effective or not in killing Aedes aegypti larvae. This research method includes larva collection, identification and maintenance of mosquitoes, determining sample size, making extracts and testing effectiveness. This study used a control and experiment group with 3 repetitions in the minutes to 15, 30, 45, 60 and 1440 (24 Hours). The control group was positive control using abate and negative control using aquades while the eksperiment group used extract of temulawak rhizome (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) with concentrations of 0.6%, 0.8%, 1%, 1.2% and 1.5%. The results of this study indicate that the temulawak rhizome extract (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) effective as larvicides because at the lowest concentration 0.6% can kill 100% Aedes aegypti larvae.

Drugs consumption like gentamicin caused damage and decreased of kidney function. Cassava leaf contain lots of micronutrients, such as vitamin C, vitamin A and carotenoids, which also as an antioxidant. The results of the study conducted by Almashuri proved that cassava leaf have high levels of carotenoid compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of cassava leaf extract on the repairment of renal damage in mice in vivo. This research is true experimental using mice (mus musculus) and were grouped into 5 groups. Two control groups (positive and negative) and 3 treatment groups (cassava leaves 150, 300, and 450 mg / day). Gentamicin is given every day for 14 days and then observed on serum levels of creatinine along with histopathological scores of kidneys’ damage. Statistical analysis showed a significant reduction in serum levels of creatinine (P <0.05) and a significant decrease in renal histopathologic score. This study suggests that cassava leaf extract can repair kidney damage as a result gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity in mice.Keywords: cassava leaf extract, creatinin, kidney histopathology

Indonesia is the country with the highest cases of dengue fever in Southeast Asia. The WHO estimates a 50–100 million dengue infections worldwide every year. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is transmitted through the bite of female Aedes mosquitoes infected with the Dengue virus. Mosquitoes Aedes aegypti is the main vector of the dengue virus. At the time, there is no cure for dengue so that the control efforts are focused on breaking the chain of life cycles. One effort to prevent the transmission of the dengue virus is to avoid vector mosquito bites. Repellent can reduce exposure to the bite of mosquitoes infected with the dengue virus. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the extract of citrus hystrix leaf as a repellent against the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. This research is a laboratory experimental study with a one-shot case study design. In this study, the extract of citrus hystrix solution was made at a concentration of 10%, 20%, and 30%, and then the extract solution was used as a stock to make a 100-gram base lotion that would be used as a repellent. Repellent effectiveness is seen from the percentage of repellent protection power. The percentage of repellant protection used with the basic ingredients of Citrus hystrix leaf extract at concentrations of 10%, 20%, and 30%, respectively, at 93.33% 94.67%, and 97.33%. The extract of citrus hystrix leaf was found to be effective as a repellent against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

Abstrack. Demam berdarah dengue (DBD) adalah infeksi virus ditemukan pada negara-negara tropistermasuk Indonesia. Indonesia termasuk dalam katagori A dalam perkembangan penyakit virus tersebut yang mengindikasikan tingginya angka kematian. Angka insiden terus meningkat pada anak maupun dewasa dengan tingginya angka mortalitas. Tidak ada pencatatan lengkap untuk angka insidensi pada kehamilan, meskipun mortalitas cukup tinggi. Kami melaporkan empat kasus kehamilan dengan penyakit yang disebabkan oleh vektor Aedes aegypti. Pada keempat kasus tersebut kami telah diagnosis berdasarkan kriteria demam yang khas, trombositopenia, hemokonsentrasi dan pemeriksaan serologi. Terdapat penatalaksanaan yang berbeda dari berbagai kasus tersebut termasuk indikasi terminasi. Satu pasien kami rawat konservatif dan tiga pasien dilakukan terminasi berdasarkan indikasi obstetri. Pertimbangan cara terminasi sangat bergantung pula dengan indikasi obstetri. Seksio sesarea tidak secara mutlak dilakukan pada kehamilan dengan demam berdarah dengue. Kata kunci: Demam berdarah dengue, kehamilan, penatalaksanaan Abstract. Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a viral infection found in tropical countries including Indonesia. Indonesia is included in category A in the development of viral diseases that's the high mortality rate. The numbers keep increasing on both adult children with high mortality rates. No complete logging for the incidence rate in pregnancy, although mortality is quite high. We reported four cases pregnancy with diseases caused by the Aedes aegypti vector. In four cases We had diagnosed based on criteria that met the specific criteria, thrombocytopenia, hemoconcentration and serology. There are different treatments for these cases includes the term indication. One patient was treated conservatively and three patients were admitted termination based on obstetric indications. The consideration on how to terminate is also very dependent with obstetric indications. Caesarean section is not absolutely necessary in pregnancy with dengue hemorrhagic fever. Keywords: Dengue hemorrhagic fever, pregnancy, management

ABSTRACTMosquitoes are type of insect that acts as a disease vector. One of them is Culex sp mosquitos which their existence is many around us. In Indonesia there are still a lot of disease cases that caused by Culex sp mosquitos, one of them is filariasis disease. The efforts to control thecurrent population of Culex sp mosquitoes mostly use chemical insecticides. The control becomes difficult because of the resistance to chemical insecticides and adversely affects the environment. This study aims to determine the potential of jackfruit leaf extract as biolarvasida against Culex sp. The type of this study was post test onlycontrolled group design, using 625 larvae Culex sp instar III, divided into 5 groups (negative control group, 0.25% extract, 0.50% extract, 0.75% extract, extract and 1% extract). Observation was performed 24 hoursafter the treatment and counted the number of larvae death.The data were analyzed by Kruskal Wallis test followed by Post Hoc Mann-Whitney U test to determine the killing power of leafy leaf extractusing Probit analysis. The results of data analysis in this study were thedeath rate percentage of larvae after 24 hours treatment was 0% incontrol, 44% in 0.25%extract, 52% in0.50% extract, 60% in 0.75%extract,while in the extract group of 1%, the number of larval deaths was 72%. Itobtained results with significant differencein some treatment groups thatwere concentrations of 0.25% - 1%. Probit analysis showed that LC50 wasat 0.382% concentration.From results of the studyit can be concluded that jackfruit leaf extract(Artocarpus heterophyllus Lamk) was potential as Culex sp mosquitobiolarvacide. So it is necessary to conduct further research on the effectsof compounds that contained in other plant parts such as flowers, stemsand roots which will be expected to have a function asbiolarvasida.Keywords: Leaf Jackfruit, Biolarvasida, Mosquito Culex sp
